Role Summary:

QA Automation Engineer

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute test cases for web applications using

  Selenium with Java

• Validate REST APIs using

  Postman

• Perform database validation using

  SQL

  queries
• Collaborate with developers and product owners in

  Agile ceremonies

  (stand-ups, retrospectives, sprint planning)
• Log and track bugs, and update tasks using

  Jira

• Follow best practices across

  SDLC and STLC

  , including regression test planning and execution
• Clearly communicate defects, coverage gaps, and test updates during internal meetings

Must-Have Skills:

SkillDepth / Modules

Selenium with Java (UI)

Create and run basic test cases; XPath/CSS locators, waits, assertions, PageFactory/POM patterns

Cucumber (BDD)

Gherkin syntax, basic step definitions in Java; at least one project experience

Postman (API Testing)

REST request/response validation, headers, status codes, basic parameterization

SQL / DB Testing

SELECT queries with WHERE clauses; basic JOINs preferred

Agile Methodology

Participated in sprints, user story grooming, estimation, retrospectives

Jira

Log defects, track user stories and bug status

SDLC/STLC Knowledge

Familiar with test planning, execution, and defect logging

Communication Skills

Capable of articulating bugs, coverage status, and updates clearly in meetings

Nice-to-Have Skills:

SkillDepth / Modules

Karate (API Automation)

Familiarity with Karate DSL or equivalent API test tools like REST-assured

TestNG / JUnit

Use of annotations like @Test, @BeforeClass; run tests from IDE/build tools

CI/CD (Jenkins, GitHub Actions)

Exposure to triggering automated tests via CI tools

Maven / Gradle

Able to run scripts using mvn test or Gradle in terminal/IDE

Git

Basic use – pull, commit, push

Cloud Testing Concepts

General awareness of testing in cloud environments (AWS, Azure)
