Every day, thousands of WooCommerce store owners rely on FunnelKit to power their checkout experiences, upsells, and email automations. When our plugins work flawlessly, they make sales. When they don't, businesses lose money.

Your job is to make sure the second scenario never happens.

We're looking for someone who gets genuinely excited about finding the bug that could have broken a Black Friday sale for a store doing $50k/day. Someone who thinks "but what if the user does THIS?" is a fun thought experiment, not an exhausting one.

If you've ever stayed up late testing something because you had to know why it broke in that specific scenario... we should talk.

About FunnelKit

We build high-performance WordPress/WooCommerce plugins that help online stores increase conversions and revenue. Our products handle millions of dollars in transactions, which means our quality standards aren't negotiable.

We're a product-focused team that ships fast, iterates constantly, and sweats the details. Our customers range from solo entrepreneurs to enterprises running multiple stores.

New to WordPress/WooCommerce? That's fine. If you've tested complex software systems, you can learn our stack. The testing mindset and skills matter more than platform knowledge.

What You'll Actually Do

  • Test complex e-commerce features across different environments (hosting providers, server configurations, integration combinations, third-party dependencies)
  • Find bugs before customers do - especially the edge cases developers miss because they only test happy paths
  • Write bug reports that developers actually want to read - clear reproduction steps, environment details, visual proof, and severity assessment
  • Design test scenarios that cover real-world customer workflows, not just feature checklists
  • Advocate for quality even when timelines are tight (this means you'll need to push back sometimes)
  • Think in compatibility - our plugins don't exist in isolation; they live in an ecosystem with thousands of other plugins, themes, and configurations
  • Understand the business impact - know the difference between a cosmetic bug and one that blocks checkout flows during peak sales

What We're Looking For

Non-Negotiable:

  • 4 - 6 years of manual software testing experience with documented examples of bugs you've found
  • Experience testing complex software systems - whether that's web applications, SaaS platforms, enterprise software, or other multi-layered products
  • Meticulous documentation skills - your bug reports include reproduction steps a stranger could follow blindfolded
  • Technical curiosity - comfortable using browser dev tools, checking logs, investigating system behavior, and learning new technical concepts
  • Proven ability to test integration-heavy products - you understand how different components interact and where breakpoints typically occur

The Mindset That Thrives Here:

  • You test to break, not to confirm - validation is boring, discovery is fun
  • You notice things others miss - the 2px alignment issue, the color that's slightly off, the button that works 99% of the time
  • You think in scenarios, not checklists - "What if a customer applies a coupon, then adds another product, then changes shipping, then..."
  • You ask "why" more than "what" - understanding root causes matters to you
  • You're comfortable with ambiguity - sometimes features ship without perfect documentation, and you figure it out
  • You take ownership - if there's a bug in production, you feel personally responsible for catching it next time
  • You're a fast learner - you can pick up new platforms, tools, and technical concepts quickly

Nice to Have (But We Can Teach You):

  • WordPress familiarity - comfortable navigating WP admin, installing plugins, understanding how plugins interact
  • WooCommerce exposure - you've at least set up a test store and understand checkout/cart flows
  • E-commerce or payment flow testing experience
  • Understanding of web architecture (APIs, databases, caching, sessions)
  • Experience testing multi-tenant or multi-configuration products
  • Familiarity with PHP-based applications or CMS platforms
  • Experience with visual regression testing or test documentation tools
  • You've worked in a fast-paced product team that ships weekly/bi-weekly

Skills:

  • Curiosity - enjoy finding edge cases and bugs
  • Attention to detail - spot patterns in when bugs occur; read error messages thoroughly instead of skimming; understanding which bugs affect conversions/revenue vs. which are cosmetic
  • Systematic thinking - follow a logical flow in testing; can create comprehensive test cases that cover scenarios others miss; document steps clearly enough that anyone can reproduce issues
  • Customer empathy - think from different customer personas (like a store owner who is under pressure)
  • Communication - write bug reports that developers want to read; include: clear steps, expected vs. actual results, screenshots/videos, environment details; can explain technical issues to non-technical stakeholders; give constructive feedback without being combative
  • Technical curiosity (not necessarily coding) - comfortable with browser dev tools, logs, database basics; understand how the web works (APIs, sessions, caching); can read and modify URLs, inspect network requests; know when something is a frontend vs. backend issue
  • Adaptive problem solver - when blocked, find workarounds to continue testing; can test without complete documentation
  • Ownership & accountability - Feel personally responsible for quality; advocate for the user, even when it's inconvenient; celebrate preventing bugs, not just finding them
  • Domain knowledge builder - actively want to understand WordPress/WooCommerce deeply; research competitor plugins to see how they handle similar features; stay current with platform updates and changes; build mental models of how systems interact
  • Resilience & patience - can do repetitive testing without losing focus; stay calm when things don't work as expected; handle regression testing without complaint; maintain quality standards under deadline pressure

The reality: If you've successfully tested complex enterprise software, developer tools, SaaS platforms, or multi-integration products, you have the foundation we need. WordPress/WooCommerce is just another stack to learn - and we'll help you get there.
