QA/QC Engineer (Welding & Coating)

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering.
• Minimum of 6 years’ experience in quality control and assurance roles within the oil & gas industry.
• Valid qualification as a Welding Inspector (as per TWI/CSWIP).
• Preferably holding ASNT Level II qualification in UT, RT, MPI, DPI and/or VT (as per SNT-TC-1A 1992 standards).
• Qualification as a Painting Inspector is desirable.
• Strong technical knowledge of QA/QC practices and ability to discuss quality matters with company representatives.
• Excellent computer literacy and strong presentation skills.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

• Prepare company Quality Plan, Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), and Quality Procedures for equipment overhauling and maintenance activities.
• Witness and monitor contractors’ welding activities, inspections, and tests in line with approved Quality Plans, ITPs, and Quality Procedures.
• Conduct in-process inspections as per ITPs and Inspection Requests to ensure compliance with specifications, drawings, and procedures.
• Prepare WPS, WQR, and manage welders’ qualification tests.
• Maintain accurate records of welder qualifications.
• Review material certificates to ensure compliance with relevant codes and specifications.
• Oversee storage and handling of welding consumables as per manufacturers’ recommendations and specifications.
• Monitor and control all quality-related activities at site.
• Ensure effective preparation and management of quality system documentation prior to maintenance activities.
• Coordinate QA/QC correspondence with company representatives.
• Conduct inspections of welding processes, weld joints, and coating applications to ensure adherence to project specifications, quality standards, and international codes (ASME, AWS, API, NACE).
• Review quality of all site materials for compliance with company specifications and standards.
• Inspect coating applications to ensure surfaces meet project specifications, industry standards, and codes.
• Ensure coating works comply with international standards (e.g., NACE, SSPC, ISO, ASTM) and project-specific requirements.
