QA/QC Engineer (Hot Dip Galvanizing)

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Engineer to oversee the Hot Dip Galvanizing process. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring zinc consumption, ensuring coating thickness compliance, managing third-party inspections (TPI), and maintaining strict documentation for ISO audits. You will act as the bridge between production efficiency and quality assurance.

Key Responsibilities

1. Process Monitoring & Consumption Control

• Production Monitoring:

  Oversee the daily production flow and monitor quality standards throughout the galvanizing process.

• Zinc Consumption Analysis:

  Track and record zinc consumption data to optimize usage and reduce wastage.

• Bath Management:

  Regularly measure zinc levels in the bath and authorize the issuance of new zinc ingots to maintain required operating levels.

• Dipping Records:

  Maintain precise hourly records of dipping times and monitor the weight of jig materials to ensure process consistency.

2. Quality Assurance & Inspection

• Coating Measurement:

  Conduct rigorous testing of Zinc coating thickness on Galvanized Iron (GI) materials to ensure they meet client specifications (e.g., IS/ASTM standards).

• Material Testing:

  Coordinate the sampling and chemical testing of molten zinc via the laboratory to ensure bath chemistry is within limits.

• Third-Party Inspection (TPI):

  Handle inspections with external auditors or Third-Party Agencies, presenting materials for approval and resolving quality queries.

3. Documentation & Calibration

• Reporting:

  Prepare daily and weekly reports on production output, rework percentages, and material rejection analysis.

• ISO Compliance:

  Prepare and maintain all quality records, logs, and documentation required for ISO certification and surveillance audits.

• Calibration:

  Manage the calibration schedule for all quality control instruments (e.g., Elcometers) and laboratory equipment to ensure measurement accuracy.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Education:

  Diploma or B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Metallurgy, or Chemical Engineering.

• Experience:

  Proven experience in a Hot Dip Galvanizing plant or steel industry.

• Technical Skills:

• Knowledge of Galvanizing standards (IS 2629, IS 4759, ASTM A123).
• Proficiency in using quality measuring instruments.
• Experience with ISO documentation standards.

• Soft Skills:

  Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to coordinate with external inspectors.
