As a Purchaser at House of Shipping, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Technical Department by managing day-to-day procurement operations in alignment with the company's policies and procedures. Your responsibilities will include sourcing, processing, and coordinating orders for vessel spares, services, and supplies while ensuring timely delivery, cost-effectiveness, and full compliance with the Company's Management System. Acting as a liaison between technical superintendents, suppliers, and internal departments will be a key aspect of this role. You will be responsible for executing procurement tasks such as processing purchase requisitions accurately and promptly, maintaining an updated purchasing system, and ensuring proper vendor selection based on cost, lead time, quality, and contract terms. Documentation and compliance will also be a crucial part of your role, including maintaining purchasing filing systems, adhering to the Technical Department Manual and Safety Management System, and contributing to the improvement of procurement procedures. Effective communication and coordination skills will be essential as you escalate procurement-related issues to the relevant Technical Superintendent, liaise with vendors and forwarders to track deliveries, and monitor delivery timelines to match vessel schedules. Additionally, you will be responsible for managing inventory, tracking backorders, maintaining vendor performance data, and providing feedback for continuous improvement in procurement cycle time, cost-effectiveness, and supplier quality. To excel in this role, you should hold a Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Business, Supply Chain, or Marine Engineering, along with 2-4 years of purchasing or logistics experience, preferably in marine, technical procurement, or supply chain roles. Familiarity with shipboard systems and parts, global sourcing, ERP-based procurement platforms, and strong documentation and coordination capabilities are also desired. Your expertise in marine procurement, including ship spare parts, stores, and technical service sourcing, will be highly valuable in this position.
