Purchase Manager - API Manufacturing

Role & responsibilities

• Strategic Procurement & Sourcing:
• Develop and execute sourcing strategies for KSMs, intermediates, solvents, and commodity chemicals (domestic and international).
• Identify, evaluate, and qualify new vendors (primary and secondary) to ensure cost competitiveness and supply reliability.
• Conduct price negotiations, annual rate contracts, and long-term supply agreements.
• Vendor Management:
• Maintain strong vendor relationships, monitor performance, and drive supplier improvement initiatives.
• Coordinate vendor audits, technical discussions, and documentation (VQ, TSE/BSE, and regulatory declarations).
• Material Planning & Coordination:
• Collaborate with Production, R&D, and Quality teams for timely availability of materials for commercial and new product development.
• Share material cost data with R&D for RMC calculations and arrange samples for PDL trials.
• Import & Logistics Management:
• Handle import procurement, documentation, and coordination with CHA, customs, and logistics teams.
• Ensure compliance with statutory requirements such as Advance License, 100% EOU, and bonded warehousing norms.
• Commercial & Cost Management:
• Conduct market analysis and track price trends for critical materials.
• Plan and manage purchase budgets, fund utilization, and MIS reporting.
• Indirect Purchase:
• Oversee procurement of engineering spares, consumables, and lab materials required for plant maintenance and QC operations.
• Systems & Compliance:
• Ensure adherence to internal audit, SOPs, and ERP (SAP MM / Tally) systems for all purchase transactions.
