Job Description

Job Summary

The Purchase Executive is responsible for procurement of construction materials, machinery, equipment, and services required for NHAI road projects. The role ensures timely availability of quality materials at competitive prices while complying with NHAI standards, contract conditions, and company policies.

Role & responsibilities

Procurement & Vendor Management

Procure materials such as aggregates, bitumen, cement, steel, machinery, fuel, and consumables as per project requirements
Identify, evaluate, and finalize vendors/suppliers in line with NHAI and company guidelines
Negotiate prices, delivery schedules, payment terms, and contracts
Maintain approved vendor lists and develop new suppliers when required

Project Coordination

Coordinate with site engineers, project managers, and planning teams for material requirements
Ensure timely delivery of materials to project sites to avoid work delays
Monitor material consumption as per BOQ and construction schedule

Preferred candidate profile

Cost Control & Reporting

Track procurement costs and support budget control for projects
Prepare procurement reports, vendor performance reports, and MIS
Support claims, variations, and price escalation documentation if required

Inventory & Store Coordination

Coordinate with store department for inventory control and stock reconciliation
Avoid over-stocking or shortages of critical materials

Skills & Competencies

Knowledge of road construction materials and NHAI specifications
Strong negotiation and communication skills
Understanding of BOQ, contracts, and project procurement cycles
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
