JD for Project Head - Planning

Position Overview

Planning & Scheduling

  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules (Level 2/3/4) using Primavera P6.
  • Establish robust Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) with proper logical relationships and sequencing.
  • Integrate engineering, procurement, fabrication, and construction activities into a unified master schedule.
  • Conduct critical path analysis, identify multiple critical paths, and monitor schedule health.
  • Update schedules with actual progress data, forecast completion dates, and highlight variances.
  • Implement Earned Value Management (EVM) techniques and develop progress measurement systems.
  • Prepare S-curves, dashboards, and periodic progress reports (weekly/monthly).
  • Develop project control execution plans and schedule risk analyses.
  • Recommend recovery and mitigation plans for delayed deliverables.

Leadership & Coordination

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of planning professionals.
  • Coordinate across engineering, procurement, and construction disciplines to resolve schedule conflicts.
  • Continuously improve planning tools, methodologies, and processes for efficiency and accuracy.
  • Provide strategic insights to leadership by highlighting risks, delays, and opportunities for optimization.

Reporting & Stakeholder Management

  • Generate timely reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Present project performance against milestones and contractual commitments.
  • Ensure proactive communication on schedule impacts, risks, and mitigation measures.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a proactive approach to risk management.
  • Proficiency in Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, and other project control tools.
  • Solid understanding of EPC project execution methodologies and industry practices.
  • Knowledge of cost control and financial principles in project management.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills to engage with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively under tight timelines.

Qualifications

  • B.Tech / BE in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
  • 12-16 years of proven experience in project planning and scheduling within the EPC industry.
  • Expertise in developing and managing complex project schedules.
  • Experience in project management, risk analysis, and progress monitoring.
  • Professional certifications such as PMP, PMI-SP are highly desirable.
