Fixed Term Contract (FTC)

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Non-Destructive Testing (NDT):

    • Plan, coordinate, and execute non-destructive testing (NDT) activities as per project requirements, codes, and standards.
    • Perform and supervise NDT methods such as automated ultrasonic testing (AUT), radiographic testing (RT), magnetic particle testing (MT), dye penetrant testing (PT), eddy current testing (ET), and visual inspections (VT) on materials and components.
    • Ensure accurate interpretation of NDT results and provide clear recommendations for corrective actions if defects or non-conformances are detected.
    • Review and select the appropriate NDT techniques based on material types, component geometry, and project specifications.

Quality Assurance & Control:

    • Develop and implement QA/QC procedures and NDT protocols to ensure the highest level of quality and safety in testing and inspections.
    • Review and verify that NDT activities comply with relevant industry standards, specifications (such as ASME, ASTM, ISO, etc.), and client requirements.
    • Identify and report non-conformities or defects found during NDT processes and work with the project team to resolve issues.
    • Maintain an NDT database and track the progress and status of NDT activities.

3. Documentation and Reporting:

    • Prepare comprehensive NDT inspection reports, including test results, observations, and photographs (when applicable), along with any findings related to material integrity.
    • Document all NDT procedures, methods, and certifications, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and project specifications.
    • Maintain accurate records of all NDT activities, including inspection reports, test certificates, and calibration data.
    • Ensure that all documentation related to NDT is organized and accessible for review during audits or regulatory inspections.

4. Calibration and Equipment Management:

    • Ensure that NDT equipment is calibrated and functioning according to the relevant standards.
    • Conduct regular inspections, maintenance, and calibration of NDT equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability during tests.
    • Maintain records of calibration and verification of NDT equipment.

5. Collaboration and Coordination:

    • Work closely with other engineering disciplines, project managers, and subcontractors to ensure the correct implementation of NDT and quality assurance procedures on-site.
    • Collaborate with the engineering team to review project specifications and select the most appropriate NDT methods for testing.
    • Liaise with third-party NDT contractors or certification bodies to ensure that inspections meet regulatory and industry requirements.

6. Training and Development:

    • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior NDT technicians and other team members.
    • Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in NDT technologies, methods, and industry best practices.
    • Participate in or conduct internal training sessions to improve the knowledge and skillset of the QA/QC team.

7. Health, Safety, and Compliance:

    • Ensure that NDT activities are conducted in compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
    • Implement safety protocols and best practices during NDT inspections to ensure the well-being of personnel and the integrity of equipment and materials.
    • Assist in promoting a safety culture and ensuring that all team members adhere to safety standards.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Materials, or related field) or equivalent technical qualification.
  • Certification in NDT (Level II or III) from a recognized body such as the American Society for Non-destructive Testing (ASNT), ISNT, or equivalent certifications (e.g., ISO 9712, PCN).
  • Proven experience in QA/QC and NDT inspection techniques within the construction, manufacturing, or industrial sectors.
  • Knowledge of industry standards for NDT methods and materials, such as ASME, ASTM, ISO, API, or other relevant codes.
  • Proficiency in NDT inspection techniques and equipment for various methods (RT, UT, MT, PT, ET, VT).
  • Strong ability to interpret NDT results and prepare clear, accurate reports.
  • Familiarity with software tools used in NDT documentation and quality control processes.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience in specialized NDT methods (e.g., phased array ultrasonics, infrared thermography, etc.).
  • Understanding of welding, pressure vessels, pipelines, and structural integrity assessments.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and under tight deadlines.
