Essential Technical Knowledge & Skills

Building Systems Expertise: In-depth knowledge of the operation, maintenance, and repair of critical infrastructure, including HVAC, electrical systems (panels, UPS, generators), plumbing, and fire safety systems.

Factory-Specific Systems: Understanding of industrial machinery, automation systems, and processes specific to the factorys manufacturing environment, including their maintenance and operational requirements.

Preventive Maintenance: Experience in developing and implementing preventive and predictive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend asset lifecycles.

Energy Management & Sustainability: Knowledge of energy efficiency measures, waste management, water conservation, and the ability to implement sustainable practices to optimize costs and meet environmental goals.

Technology Proficiency: Familiarity with modern facility management software, such as Computer-Aided Facility Management (CAFM) systems, Building Management Systems (BMS), and IoT-based monitoring tools.
Management & Soft Skills

Project Management: Ability to plan, schedule, and execute facility projects, renovations, and equipment installations, coordinating internal teams and external contractors.

Vendor and Contract Management: Strong negotiation skills for managing annual maintenance contracts (AMCs) and external service providers, ensuring adherence to quality and service level agreements (SLAs).

Financial Acumen: Capability in preparing and managing operational budgets, tracking expenditures, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and demonstrating return on investment (ROI) for facility initiatives.

Leadership and Communication: Strong leadership skills to supervise on-site staff, delegate tasks, and communicate complex technical information effectively to non-technical stakeholders (e.g., senior management, HR, IT).

Problem-Solving and Crisis Management: The capacity to quickly identify, assess, and address unexpected issues or emergencies to minimize disruptions to operations.
Qualifications & Compliance

Education: A Bachelors degree or Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical preferred), Facilities Management, or a related field is often preferred.

Experience: Significant experience (typically 4-10+ years) in technical facilities management within an industrial or similar complex environment is a common requirement.

Regulatory Knowledge: A thorough understanding of local statutory requirements, building codes, fire safety regulations, and Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) standards in India to ensure full compliance.

Certifications: Professional certifications such as the Certified Facility Manager (CFM), Facility Management Professional (FMP), or specialized safety credentials like NEBOSH/IOSH can provide a competitive advantage.
