Position Summary: We are seeking a seasoned Production Expert to lead and manage operations in our Heavy Fabrication or Heavy Engineering Machine Shop. The ideal candidate will bring 12 to 18 years of overall manufacturing experience, including a minimum of 5 years in a team leadership or section-in-charge role. This role emphasises leadership, team management, process improvement, and change management over technical specialisation. Key Responsibilities: Lead and manage production activities in the heavy fabrication or heavy engineering machine shop section to ensure productivity, quality, and safety goals are met. Supervise and develop a diverse team of supervisors, unionised workforce, and contract labour. Drive performance, discipline, and motivation across the production team through structured people management practices. Develop and implement effective manpower strategies, including workforce planning, recruitment, training, performance management, and skill development. Lead or participate in continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Kaizen, TPM, etc.) to improve process efficiency and reduce waste. Ensure adherence to Quality Management System (QMS) and Integrated Management System (IMS) standards with a strong focus on process, compliance, and safety. Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as Maintenance, Quality, Planning, and HR to meet production targets and address operational challenges. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and take corrective actions where necessary. Facilitate change management initiatives, foster a culture of accountability, and encourage innovation within the team. Support project management efforts related to capacity expansion, layout changes, or equipment upgrades. Qualifications: Mandatory: Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institution. Experience: Total Experience: 12 to 18 years in a manufacturing/fabrication environment. Minimum 5 years of experience in a Team Leader or Section In-charge role in a Heavy Fabrication or Heavy Engineering Machine Shop. Key Competencies: Strong leadership and people management skills. Proficiency in shop floor planning and production supervision. Practical understanding of industrial relations and workforce dynamics in a unionized environment. Demonstrated ability in problem-solving, process optimization, and driving continuous improvement. Exposure to QMS/IMS and occupational health & safety standards. Capability to manage change, lead transformation, and implement innovative practices on the shop floor. Good communication and collaboration skills. Desirable Attributes: Experience in automation, digital manufacturing, or lean initiatives will be an added advantage. Project management experience related to production process improvements or infrastructure development.
