A CDP Product Manager is responsible for a Customer Data Platform's (CDP) strategy, development, and lifecycle, focusing on unifying customer data from various sources to create single customer views for personalized marketing and insights. Key responsibilities include creating roadmaps, collaborating with engineering and marketing, ensuring data quality and governance, and empowering other teams to leverage the unified customer data to drive business value.
Strategic Planning: Develop and maintain a clear product roadmap for the CDP, aligning with business needs and market trends.
Data Management: Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and proper governance of customer data within the platform.
Integration: Oversee the integration of data from various internal and external sources into the CDP.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, marketing, sales, and other teams to gather requirements and ensure data is used effectively.
Product Development: Lead the end-to-end product development process from conception to launch, often using agile methodologies.
Data Activation: Ensure the unified customer data is activated and made accessible to other systems, such as marketing automation, for real-time personalization.
Performance Monitoring: Regularly review product metrics and model performance to ensure the CDP delivers tangible business value.
Stakeholder Management: Gather use cases and needs from various business departments to inform CDP development and optimize its utility.
Product Management Experience: A strong background in product management, particularly with technical products like data platforms or internal tools.
Data & Technical Acumen: Familiarity with data concepts, APIs, SQL, schemas, and data engineering.
Business Understanding: The ability to understand business objectives and connect them to CDP functionality, particularly for personalized marketing.
Collaboration & Communication: Excellent communication skills to work with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and engineering.
Strategic Thinking: The capacity to turn vague ideas into concrete product specifications and develop long-term strategies.
