Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Research and Development Specialist at Root Labs, located in Delhi, India. The Research and Development Specialist will be responsible for conducting scientific research, developing new skincare formulations, and improving existing products. Daily tasks include laboratory work, analyzing data, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to advance product development. Additionally, this role involves ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and communicating findings effectively within the organization.

What Will Your Role Be

• Product Innovation: Research global beauty & wellness trends and translate them into innovative product ideas. Lead the end-to-end development of skincare products from concept to launch.
• Continuously enhance existing formulations for efficacy, cost efficiency, sensorial appeal, and market competitiveness. Collaborate with R&D labs, formulators, and manufacturers to create high-performing, safe, and compliant products.
• Conduct stability, compatibility, safety, and performance testing to ensure efficacy and regulatory compliance
• Prepare and maintain all technical documentation, including COAs, MSDS, dossiers, SOPs, and lab records.
• Liaise with manufacturing and QA/QC teams to scale lab batches to full production while maintaining formula integrity. Ensure timely launches while maintaining quality, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness.
• Work closely with Marketing, Packaging, and Creative teams to transform product concepts into commercial success.

What We’re Looking For

• A background in Cosmetic Science, Chemistry, Pharmacy, or a related field.
• 1–3 years of experience in skincare / personal care formulation.
• Strong understanding of cosmetic ingredients, safety testing, and regulatory frameworks.
• Detail-oriented with excellent organisational and documentation skills.
• A curious mind that loves experimenting, learning, and solving problems.
• Passion for sustainability and skincare innovation.
