Job Description

We are seeking a highly organized, self driven and detail-oriented Engineer with expertise in contract finalization for construction projects. The successful candidate will play a critical role in managing, reviewing, and finalizing contracts between various stakeholders, including contractors, suppliers and consultants. This role requires a strong understanding of construction practices, work estimation, and negotiation strategies to ensure that all agreements are compliant, cost-effective, and aligned with project objectives.

Role & responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, and finalize contracts related to construction projects, ensuring all terms are accurate, fair and technically sound.
  • Collaborate with project managers, architects and contractors to clarify contract terms, project timelines, scope, and responsibilities.
  • Negotiate contract terms, pricing, and deliverables with contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure fair and beneficial agreements.
  • Ensure all contracts comply with local building codes, safety regulations, and industry standards.
  • Review contractor bids and proposals to ensure alignment with project scope, budget, and timelines.
  • Manage the contract change process, including amendments, extensions, and cancellations as needed.
  • Monitor compliance with contract terms throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring timely delivery of materials, services, and payments.
  • Work closely with the project finance team to ensure payment terms and conditions are adhered to and that budgets remain within scope.
  • Assist in resolving any contractual disputes or issues that may arise during project execution.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of all contracts, correspondence, and negotiations for future reference.
  • Provide recommendations to management on ways to improve contract processes and reduce project risks.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • In-depth knowledge of contract management, construction practices and local regulations.
  • Strong experience in contract negotiation, drafting, and management within the construction industry.
  • Excellent attention to detail, with a focus on accuracy and compliance.
  • Proficiency in construction management software and contract management tools is desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for negotiating and liaising with contractors, suppliers, and legal teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple contracts and stakeholders simultaneously while maintaining a focus on deadlines and project outcomes.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to resolve contract-related disputes.

Preferred Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience in construction contract management or related roles.
  • Familiarity with various contract types (lump sum, unit price, cost-plus, etc.) used in construction projects.
  • Previous experience working on large-scale commercial, residential, or industrial projects.
  • Certification in Contract Management (e.g., CCM) is a plus.
