Job Description

As the Principal Engineer - Civil at Arcadis, you will play a key technical leadership role within our Water Design and Engineering team, contributing to a variety of challenging water and wastewater capital projects across the UK. Reporting to the Associate Technical Director/Technical Director, you will oversee the technical delivery of project-related tasks to meet budget, timeframe, and quality targets, while ensuring client expectations are met or exceeded. Your responsibilities will include promoting Arcadis" services during client interactions, contributing to the divisional business plan, and building industry networks. To be considered for this role, we are looking for candidates with the following qualifications and experience: - Approximately 10+ years of experience in the UK water sector - BSc/BEng or MSc/MEng in a relevant discipline - Chartered Engineer status and membership of a professional institution such as ICE or CIWEM - Strong background in technical delivery of Water and Wastewater projects, including feasibility to construction design stage delivery experience - Experience in design and construct projects using digital design platforms Your role accountabilities will include: - Owning and managing day-to-day technical delivery - Overseeing the development of colleagues working on complex projects - Managing the production and verification of analysis and design, including drawings, calculations, and reports - Supporting regional teams/clients through the technical decision-making process - Developing design methodologies for complex projects through appropriate research - Ensuring all deliverables meet the highest standards and comply with Arcadis" business management system - Engaging in the development of engineering technology and continuous improvement of systems - Collaborating in the development of team training plans and contributing to upskilling and training efforts - Providing design input to CAD/BIM and coordinating with CAD/BIM staff for drawing preparation - Liaising with team members to produce design solutions following best practices In addition to technical skills, we are looking for candidates with strong interpersonal skills, the ability to communicate effectively across regions, and a proactive approach to learning and development.
