Price Polling Analyst- Commodities

Job Objective:

The Price Polling Analyst will be responsible for collecting, verifying, and reporting real-time market price data and intelligence from a network of Mandi contacts, spot market participants, rice millers, brokers, and traders across key commodity markets. The role involves building strong relationships with market stakeholders, identifying price trends, and providing actionable insights to support the firms research, consulting, and client advisory services.

Job Responsibilities:

Price Data Collection:

• Conduct daily price polling calls with market contacts (Mandis, spot markets, millers, and brokers, traders) to capture live price movements for grains and pulses.
• Track and record wholesale/retail/processing prices, arrivals, trade volumes, and quality differentials across markets.

Market Intelligence Gathering:

• Collect qualitative insights on market drivers such as demand-supply trends, crop arrivals, government policies, trade flows, and seasonal patterns.
• Identify early signals of market shifts (e.g., weather impact, procurement trends, and export/import demand).

Data Validation & Reporting:

• Cross-verify collected price data with multiple sources to ensure accuracy and reliability.
• Input daily prices and observations into internal dashboards/reports for research and client dissemination.

Network Development:

• Build and maintain a trusted network of Mandi traders, brokers, and market stakeholders to ensure consistent information flow.
• Expand market coverage by identifying new polling contacts and regions.

Collaboration:

• Work closely with the price research team to align polling schedules with reporting deadlines.
• Share on-ground feedback to support analytical reports, procurement strategies, and client presentations.

Key Deliverables

• Accurate and timely price polling reports (daily/weekly).
• Market intelligence briefs highlighting key developments and price trends.
• Maintenance of an updated contact database of market participants.

Job Requirements: Qualifications & Skills

• Graduate in Agriculture, Economics, Commerce, Business, or related field.
• MBA/PG in Agri-Business or Commodity Markets (preferred but not mandatory).

Experience:

• 1-3 years of experience in commodity price polling, market intelligence, Agri-commodity trading, or related fields.
• Freshers with strong communication skills and market awareness may also apply.

Core Skills:

• Strong verbal communication and relationship-building abilities (Hindi, English, and regional languages as required).
• Good understanding of Indian agricultural commodity markets (Mandis, spot trade mechanisms).
• Ability to capture, validates, and report numerical data accurately.
• Proficiency in MS Excel/Google Sheets and basic data entry tools.
• Analytical mindset to identify trends and anomalies.
