Role Overview

Morepen Labs is seeking an experienced API Portfolio Manager to lead the strategic management of its Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API) portfolio. The role will focus on new product selection, portfolio optimization, risk management, and long-term pipeline planning, while ensuring efficient use of resources. The Portfolio Manager will work closely with Sales, R&D, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, IP, QA/QC, and Project Management teams to build a robust API roadmap. Success will be measured by the ability to screen, prioritize, and launch commercially successful products that achieve significant global market share.

Key Responsibilities

Portfolio & Pipeline Management

• Conduct quarterly reviews of the API portfolio to assess product performance, resource allocation, and strategic fit.

• Lead selection of new APIs based on:

• Market potential and customer/HCP insights.
• IP landscape and regulatory feasibility.
• Technical complexity, development timelines, and cost competitiveness.

• Recommend discontinuation or modification of products early to reduce resource wastage.

• Drive first-time-right strategy by applying industry-benchmarked product screening

methodologies.

Strategic Planning

• Develop a 510 year API roadmap aligned with therapy areas (cardiovascular, diabetes, CNS, oncology, etc.).

• Provide critical inputs for capacity planning (KL expansions, CapEx justification) to ensure portfolio readiness.

• Track new indications, safety alerts, and adverse effects for timely strategic adjustments.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Partner with R&D, QA/QC, and IP to ensure dossiers are aligned with market expectations.

• Work with Supply Chain and Operations for accurate demand forecasting and capacity alignment.

• Support Sales and Regulatory teams with market intelligence and competitive insights (not direct responsibility for filings or sales).

Market Intelligence & Risk Management

• Continuously monitor competitive landscape, pricing dynamics, and global demand- supply trends.

• Track IP, regulatory alerts, and compliance risks.

• Ensure timely evaluation of emerging opportunities and threats impacting the portfolio.

Qualifications & Experience

• M.Pharma / M.Sc. (Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, or related discipline) is required.

• MBA (Pharma/Strategy/Marketing) preferred.

• 8-12 years of relevant experience in API portfolio management, R&D strategy, or product lifecycle management in the pharmaceutical sector.

• Strong knowledge of global API markets, regulatory frameworks (US, EU, WHO, ROW), and IP landscapes.

• Demonstrated track record in portfolio optimization and successful product launches.

Skills & Competencies

• Strong understanding of global pharmaceutical markets, regulatory pathways (US,

EU, WHO, etc.), and clinical usage of APIs.

• Demonstrated ability in business case development, data analytics, and forecasting.

• Knowledge of IP landscape evaluation, competitive intelligence, and risk management.

• Proven capability to revive mature/flatlining APIs and identify new opportunities.

• Excellent communication, presentation, and cross-functional leadership skills.

• Analytical mindset with attention to detail and strong decision-making ability.
