Plant Manager

As the Business Unit Head for BESS (Battery Energy Storage Systems) Manufacturing at our company, located in Bhubaneswar, you will play a pivotal role in leading the establishment and operation of our Battery Energy Storage Systems manufacturing unit. Your primary responsibilities will include setting up the plant, developing manufacturing processes, managing production, ensuring quality and safety compliance, and building a skilled workforce to align with our strategic growth goals in the energy storage sector. Your key responsibilities will involve leading the end-to-end setup of the BESS manufacturing facility, which includes layout planning, infrastructure development, and machinery installation. You will work closely with equipment suppliers, contractors, and consultants to ensure timely commissioning. Furthermore, you will be responsible for developing and implementing efficient, safe, and cost-effective manufacturing processes while introducing automation and lean manufacturing practices to enhance efficiency. Overseeing day-to-day manufacturing operations to meet production targets, ensuring adherence to quality control standards, and implementing robust testing procedures will also fall under your purview. Additionally, you will establish vendor and supplier networks for raw materials, components, and equipment, negotiating contracts to ensure cost-effectiveness and timely supply. Your role will also entail ensuring compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations, implementing strict safety protocols, and conducting periodic audits. Collaborating with R&D teams to integrate new battery chemistries and storage technologies into production, aligning manufacturing capacity with market demand and company growth targets, and preparing regular reports on production metrics, quality performance, and operational efficiency are crucial aspects of the position. To excel in this role, you should possess strong leadership skills in manufacturing setup and operations, in-depth knowledge of battery manufacturing processes, materials, and quality standards, and proven experience in large-scale plant commissioning and production ramp-up. Strong supply chain and vendor management skills, as well as excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills, will be essential. Ideally, you should hold a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering (an MBA is preferred) and have 15+ years of experience in manufacturing, with at least 5 years in battery, energy storage, or related manufacturing leadership roles. A proven track record of setting up or scaling manufacturing facilities will be highly beneficial.,
