Job Description

Role & responsibilities

  1. Strategic HR Leadership:

    • Act as a strategic partner to plant leadership, ensuring alignment of HR strategies with organizational goals.
    • Drive organizational change initiatives to improve productivity and workforce efficiency.
  2. Employee Relations and Union Management:

    • Maintain harmonious industrial relations by proactively addressing grievances.
    • Lead union negotiations, including drafting and executing charter agreements.
    • Foster a positive work culture while ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.
  3. Labour Law and Compliance:

    • Ensure compliance with Labour Law, Contract Labour (Regulation & Abolition) Act, Factory Act, and Industrial Disputes Act.
    • Handle inspections, audits, and legal proceedings related to labour issues.
  4. Workforce Planning and Management:

    • Manage workforce deployment and optimization to meet production and business goals.
    • Collaborate with operations to forecast manpower requirements and succession planning.
  5. HR Operations and Technology:

    • Oversee recruitment, onboarding, payroll, and performance management systems (preferably SPINE HRMS).
    • Ensure seamless operation of HR systems and processes to support plant activities.
  6. Training and Development:

    • Identify skill gaps and implement targeted training programs to enhance employee capabilities.
    • Promote leadership development and continuous learning initiatives for employees at all levels.
  7. Employee Engagement and Retention:

    • Design and implement employee engagement initiatives to build morale and improve retention.
    • Lead cultural transformation and diversity initiatives to align with organizational values.
  8. Crisis and Risk Management

    • Handle disciplinary actions, disputes, and workforce issues effectively and ethically.
    • Develop contingency plans for workforce-related risks, including strikes or workforce shortages.
  9. Budget Management:

    • Prepare and manage the HR budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources.
    • Monitor and control HR expenses to meet financial objectives.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Education:

    Masters degree in Human Resources Management, Industrial Relations, or related fields.
  • Experience:

    Minimum 15 years in a similar role, preferably in the sugar or manufacturing industry.
  • Languages:

    Fluency in Kannada and English is mandatory.

Key Competencies:

  • In-depth knowledge of HR practices, labour laws, and statutory compliance.
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate large teams.
  • Expertise in conflict resolution, negotiation, and change management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Tech-savvy, with knowledge of HRMS systems (SPINE preferred).

    15 LPA (inclusive of all components).
