Position: Pattern Shop Manager NPD / Pattern Making

Job Responsibilities:

1. Product Development

• Ensure

  on-time development

  of casting patterns from design release to trial completion.
• Conduct

  feasibility studies

  for new RFQs/design inputs in coordination with design & marketing teams.
• Deliver prototype patterns meeting customer timelines and specifications.

2. Technical Execution

• Design and validate gating systems

  for SG & Grey Iron castings.
• Analyse

  3D models and casting simulations

  to ensure manufacturability and predict defects.
• Achieve

  casting yield targets

  during development phase.
• Maintain

  controlled rejection rates

  before handing over to production.

3. Documentation & Compliance

• Prepare and maintain

  APQP / PPAP documentation

  for all new development projects.
• Ensure compliance with

  internal QMS standards

  and

  customer-specific requirements

  .
• Maintain proper records for pattern trials, modifications, and approvals.

4. Customer Coordination

• Act as

  technical SPOC (Single Point of Contact)

  for customers during development.
• Provide timely updates, resolve technical queries, and align deliverables to customer expectations.
• Coordinate design changes and ensure smooth approval cycles.

5. Team & Resource Management

• Supervise

  pattern shop personnel

  and ensure optimal utilization of manpower and resources.
• Train and mentor team members on

  latest CAD/simulation tools and foundry practices

  .
• Drive

  continuous improvement initiatives

  in pattern making, machining, and assembly.

Candidate Profile

• 9 - 15 years of relevant experience in

  pattern making & foundry operations

  .
• Proficiency in

  CAD software

  (Pro-E/Creo, SolidWorks, NX, etc.) and

  casting simulation tools

  (MAGMASoft, ProCAST, etc.).
• Strong knowledge of

  SG Iron & Grey Iron metallurgy

  and gating/riser design.
• Proven ability to

  reduce lead time, optimize yield, and control rejections

  .
• Strong leadership, communication, and customer-handling skills.
