Pathology Lab Technician

Pathology Lab Technician prepares and examines tissue samples under a microscope to assist in disease diagnosis, particularly cancer and infections. They also maintain lab equipment, record data, and ensure quality control. Essentially, they play a vital role in supporting pathologists in their work. 
Key Responsibilities:    Specimen Preparation:    Pathology Lab Technicians prepare tissue samples (biopsies, surgical specimens, etc.) for microscopic examination by cutting, staining, and mounting them on slides. Microscopic Examination:They may examine slides under a microscope, looking for abnormalities and potential disease indicators, though final diagnosis rests with the pathologist. Equipment Operation and Maintenance:They operate and maintain laboratory equipment like microtomes, tissue processors, and microscopes, ensuring proper functioning and calibration. Quality Control:They perform quality control checks to ensure the accuracy and reliability of test results. Data Recording and Reporting:They meticulously record observations, measurements, and other data related to tissue samples and test results, often in electronic databases. Assisting Pathologists:They may assist pathologists during autopsies or surgical procedures, handling specimens and preparing materials for examination. Safety and Compliance:They adhere to safety protocols for handling biological and chemical waste, maintaining a clean and safe laboratory environment.
