Job Description

Job Summary

The Pathologist is responsible for examining tissues, cells, and bodily fluids to diagnose diseases and conditions, guide treatment plans, and support clinical teams in delivering high-quality patient care. The role involves interpreting laboratory results, performing gross and microscopic examinations, and participating in quality assurance and laboratory management activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Examine tissue specimens (biopsies, surgical resections) and provide histopathological diagnoses.
  • Review and interpret cytology specimens (e.g., Pap smears, FNAs).
  • Analyze hematology, microbiology, and clinical chemistry results when required.
  • Issue detailed pathology reports in a timely manner.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings (tumor boards, clinical case discussions).
  • Provide intraoperative consultations (frozen sections) as needed.
  • Correlate clinical information with pathology findings to support patient management.
  • Engage in quality assurance, laboratory accreditation, and compliance activities.
  • Supervise and train pathology residents, technicians, or laboratory staff (if applicable).
  • Stay updated with advancements in pathology, diagnostics, and related technology.
  • Participate in research and academic activities if part of an academic institution.
  • Adhere to all regulatory, safety, and confidentiality protocols.

Qualifications

  • MD or DO degree with specialization in Pathology.
  • Board certified or board eligible in Anatomic Pathology (AP), Clinical Pathology (CP), or both (AP/CP).
  • Valid medical license to practice pathology in [State/Country].
  • Fellowship training (e.g., surgical pathology, cytopathology, hematopathology) preferred, depending on role.
  • Proficiency in interpreting histology, cytology, and laboratory tests.
  • Strong diagnostic and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Commitment to maintaining high-quality standards and patient safety.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Up to ₹120,000.00 per month
