Pastry Chef

Job Summary

Merlis Hotels, Coimbatore is seeking a creative and skilled Pastry Chef to lead and execute our dessert and bakery offerings. The ideal candidate will have a passion for innovation, strong technical knowledge of pastry arts, and the ability to deliver high-quality desserts that elevate guest experience across restaurants, banquets, and events.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and present a wide range of pastries, desserts, cakes, breads, and bakery items with consistency and excellence.
• Develop new dessert menus and seasonal specials aligned with the Merlis brand standards.
• Ensure superior quality, taste, and presentation of all pastry products.
• Manage daily pastry kitchen operations, including production planning and mise-en-place.
• Maintain strict adherence to food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards.
• Control food costs, manage inventory, and minimize wastage.
• Train, guide, and supervise junior pastry chefs and commis staff.
• Coordinate with Executive Chef and kitchen team for menus, events, and special functions.
• Ensure timely preparation for buffets, à la carte service, banquets, and celebrations.

Qualifications & Experience

• Diploma or Degree in Bakery & Pastry Arts / Hotel Management.
• Minimum 2–5 years of experience as a Pastry Chef or similar role in a reputed hotel or restaurant.
• Strong knowledge of classic and modern pastry techniques.
• Creativity, attention to detail, and a passion for desserts.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Team-oriented with good communication and leadership skills.
