Job Description – Painter (Capacitor & Reactor Division) Location: Bhosari, Pune Department: Production / Fabrication Industry: Capacitors, Reactors, Electrical Equipment Manufacturing 1. Position Overview The Painter is responsible for surface preparation, painting, and finishing of capacitor cans, reactor tanks, frames, and structural components. The role ensures high-quality coating, correct DFT, and durable finish suitable for both indoor and outdoor electrical equipment. 2. Key Responsibilities A. Surface Preparation Clean, grind, buff, and prepare metallic surfaces of capacitor cans, reactor tanks, frames, and structures. Remove rust, welding marks, and sharp edges prior to painting. Apply putty and primer coatings as required. Ensure surfaces are properly degreased and ready for paint application. B. Painting & Coating Apply primer coats (epoxy/PU/enamel-based) using spray gun or brush. Apply top coats (PU, epoxy, enamel) as per specification and shade requirement (RAL/company standard). Maintain correct Dry Film Thickness (DFT) during painting. Ensure smooth, uniform, and defect-free finish. Perform touch-up and rework where necessary. C. Quality & Inspection Inspect painted surfaces for shade accuracy, DFT levels, adhesion, and finish. Use DFT gauges and other measuring tools for quality checks. Maintain records of paint batches, usage, and QC approvals. Correct defects identified during QC inspection. D. Equipment Handling & Safety Operate spray guns, compressors, powder-coating equipment, and related tools safely. Maintain painting booths, drying areas, and painting tools. Store paints, thinners, and chemicals properly. Follow all safety standards including PPE usage (mask, goggles, gloves). Ensure proper ventilation and safe handling of chemicals. E. Coordination & Reporting Coordinate with production, fabrication, and QC teams for paint schedules. Report material shortages (paint, thinner, primer) to supervisors. Maintain daily work logs and painting activity reports. Support in final finishing after assembly and testing. 3. Skills & Competencies Proficiency in industrial spray painting (PU, epoxy, enamel). Ability to paint cylindrical capacitor cans and large reactor tanks with uniform finish. Knowledge of surface preparation, primer application, putty work, and DFT measurement. Understanding of curing times, drying conditions, and finishing standards. Good knowledge of safety practices related to paints and chemicals. 4. Qualifications & Experience ITI / Skilled Worker in Industrial Painting (preferred). 1–3 years experience in painting sheet metal components, tanks, or electrical equipment. Experience in capacitor/reactor manufacturing industry is an advantage.
