Paint Shop Lead, Bawal

Role Purpose

To lead and manage the Paint Shop operations, ensuring high-quality surface finishing of components/products, optimum utilization of resources, compliance with safety & environmental standards, and achievement of production targets in line with organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Management

• Plan, monitor, and control day-to-day paint shop operations (Pretreatment, Primer, Topcoat, Baking, etc.).
• Ensure achievement of production targets, quality standards, and delivery timelines.
• Oversee manpower allocation, material availability, and equipment utilization.

Quality & Process Control

• Implement and monitor paint shop process parameters (DFT, gloss, adhesion, salt spray testing, etc.).
• Ensure compliance with quality standards (ISO/TS, IATF, OEM requirements).
• Drive continuous improvement in defect reduction, rework, and first-time-right quality.

Maintenance & Equipment

• Ensure preventive & predictive maintenance of paint shop equipment (booths, ovens, conveyors, paint robots, etc.).
• Coordinate with maintenance teams for minimum downtime and smooth operations.

Safety, Health & Environment (SHE)

• Ensure adherence to safety guidelines, fire safety, and hazardous chemical handling protocols.
• Monitor and control VOC emissions, ETP/STP compliance, and waste disposal.

People Management

• Lead, train, and motivate the paint shop team (operators, supervisors, engineers).
• Build a culture of discipline, teamwork, and accountability.

Cost & Productivity

• Control paint consumption through Lean techniques and Kaizen initiatives.
• Drive cost reduction, energy saving, and productivity improvement projects.

Coordination & Reporting

• Liaison with Production Planning, Quality, Maintenance, and Supply Chain teams.
• Prepare and share MIS reports on daily/monthly performance, paint shop KPIs, and improvement initiatives.

• First Pass Yield (FPY) / First Time Right %
• Paint consumption vs. standard
• Rejection & rework %
• Downtime hours / OEE of paint shop
• Safety & compliance records
• Manpower productivity

Qualifications Experience

Education: B.E./B. Tech/Diploma in Paint Technology.

Experience: 1015 years in Paint Shop operations, with at least 23 years in a leadership role.

Industry Preference: Automotive, Heavy Engineering or similar.

Skills: Strong knowledge of paint processes (Industrial paints, wet paint, etc.), Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S, TPM, Leadership, communication, and team management skills, Knowledge of safety & environmental norms.
