Job Description

OpenShift Virtualization Engineer

Key Responsibilities

Observability, Monitoring & Troubleshooting

  • Implement and manage end-to-end observability solutions (monitoring, logging, tracing) for OSV environments, integrating with tools such as Dynatrace, Prometheus, and Grafana.
  • Develop event-driven monitoring and response capabilities to detect and remediate issues in real time.
  • Conduct deep-dive root cause analysis (RCA) to identify and resolve global compute environment issues.
  • Proactively monitor VM health, performance, and resource usage to ensure optimal availability.
  • Detect anomalies, security risks, or misconfigurations, and address them promptly.

Solution Design & Technical Consulting

  • Provide technical expertise and consulting to application teams requiring OSV-based solutions.
  • Design, implement, and validate custom OSV clusters and VM deployments for critical or specialized applications.

Knowledge Management

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive internal documentation and customer-facing content.
  • Contribute to knowledge sharing to drive platform adoption and enable self-service capabilities.

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Strong hands-on expertise with

    Kubernetes

    and

    OpenShift

    (deployments, services, operators, storage, networking).
  • Proficiency in

    Linux administration

    and core networking protocols/standards.
  • Experience with

    virtualization technologies

    (KVM, VMware).
  • Familiarity with

    monitoring and observability tools

    (Dynatrace, Prometheus, Grafana).
  • Scripting and automation skills (Bash, Python, Ansible, Terraform, Tekton, CI/CD pipelines).
  • Knowledge of

    cloud platforms

    (AWS, Azure, GCP) and DevOps practices.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities across multi-layered systems.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams and global stakeholders.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • 5+ years of IT infrastructure experience, including 2+ years working with Kubernetes and/or OpenShift.
  • Proven experience managing

    OpenShift Virtualization (KubeVirt)

    in production environments.
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD, GitHub, and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Ansible).
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex, large-scale, global cloud/virtualization environments.
