Job Description

New Vendor Development (Sourcing )

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute procurement of raw materials, components, consumables, and services
  • Identify reliable suppliers and negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, and payment terms
  • Monitor and maintain optimum inventory levels in coordination with production planning
  • Identify, evaluate, and develop new suppliers for localization and alternate sourcing
  • Conduct supplier audits to evaluate capacity, quality systems, and compliance
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with domestic and international suppliers
  • Monitor vendor performance (Quality, Cost, and Delivery QCD) through structured reviews
  • Support sourcing and development of new components in line with project timelines
  • Coordinate with R&D, Quality, and Production teams for supplier development
  • Ensure suppliers meet APQP/PPAP/IATF requirements for new projects
  • Drive VA/VE initiatives and alternative sourcing for cost optimization
  • Benchmark procurement costs and implement strategies for continuous savings
  • Support localization initiatives to reduce dependency on imports
  • Ensure adherence to ISO/IATF standards and company procurement policies
  • Maintain accurate purchase orders, contracts, and supplier records
  • Track and report key procurement KPIs to management

    Skills & Competencies

    • Knowledge of automobile components, supply chain, and vendor ecosystem.
    • Strong negotiation, vendor management, and analytical skills.
    • Understanding IATF 16949, ISO 9001, APQP/PPAP processes.
    • Good communication, problem-solving, and project management skills.
    • Proficiency in ERP/SAP and MS Office tools.

    Qualifications & Experience

    Education:

    • B.E. B.Tech (Mechanical Automobile Production Industrial Engineering) or equivalent.
    • MBA in Supply Chain Operations (preferred but not mandatory).

    Experience:

    • Assistant Manager: 6-8 years in purchase/vendor development (auto/auto ancillary).
    • Manager: 8-12 years with at least 2-3 years in a leadership role.
