New Product Development Engineer

Position Overview

The New Product Developer is responsible for conceptualising, designing, testing, and introducing new products that meet customer needs, market trends, and business objectives. The role involves working closely with production, quality, purchase, and marketing teams to ensure successful product launches, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify opportunities for new product development based on market research, customer feedback, and industry trends.
• Design and develop prototypes, samples, and pilot runs for new products.
• Work with production teams to scale up from prototype to mass production.
• Conduct feasibility studies, including cost analysis, material selection, and process capability.
• Collaborate with purchase and stores teams to source new materials and components.
• Ensure all new products meet quality standards, customer specifications, and regulatory compliance.
• Maintain detailed documentation of design, trials, test results, and approvals.
• Coordinate with quality and ISO teams for product validation and certification.
• Train production and quality staff on new product processes and specifications.
• Continuously monitor performance of new products and suggest improvements.
• Support continuous innovation and process improvement activities.

Qualifications & Skills

• Education:

  Diploma in Mechanical, Production, Polymer, or Industrial Engineering, BE.

• Experience:

  35 years in product development or R&D in a manufacturing unit.
• Strong knowledge of design, prototyping, and manufacturing processes.
• Ability to read and create technical drawings, CAD knowledge preferred.
• Familiarity with quality standards (ISO, BIS, customer-specific requirements).
• Creative thinking, innovation, and problem-solving mindset.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication skills.
• Project management and documentation abilities.
