New Product Development Engineer

Role & responsibilities

• Support and collaborate with peers to

  design tailored products

  , applying a strong understanding of design intent and application of HNI Products.
• Use

  Creo and Windchill

  to create

  3D models

  ,

  assemblies

  , and

  2D drawings

  per HNI standards, developing tailored solutions with supporting engineering tools.
• Provide initial technical assessments, recommendations and decisions on tailored requests, considering engineering principles, defined safety standards, cost implications, and manufacturing capabilities/limitations.

• Independently design parts and assemblies

  using sound CAD modeling techniques, proper dimensioning, and

  DFM

  best practices, with minimal supervision.
• Familiarity with

  PLM workflows

  ,

  revision control

  , and the impact of changes on

  BOMs

  ,

  drawings

  , and downstream functions.
• Manage

  engineering change requests (ECR/ECO)

  using

  PLM systems

  (

  Windchill)

  , ensuring accuracy and post-delivery field issues.
• Good understanding about

  Engineering Materials

  like Plastics, Metals, Woods etc.
• Sound knowledge about various

  Manufacturing processes

  for Sheet Metals, Plastics and wood.
• Communicate directly with customers to ensure tailored solutions are correct and appropriate.
• Use various pricing tools to determine the proper list price based on size of project, number of specials, and complexity of the special(s) requested.
• Lead activities such as

  design validation

  with limited guidance from senior team members, particularly for critical custom interfaces.
• Engage in

  design reviews

  and

  root cause analysis

  for both in-development customized solution and post-launch field issues related to tailored products.
• Work cross-functionally with manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams to deliver manufacturable, cost-effective, and

  high-performing tailored solutions within aggressive timelines.

• Contribute to

  continuous improvement initiatives

  related to product quality and performance.
• Collaborate with

  suppliers

  or

  vendors

  and, when needed, support customer-facing discussions to resolve technical queries and align design feasibility.

Preferred candidate profile

• 4 6 years of relevant experience in

  product design and development

  , preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Proven experience in

  reviewing

  ,

  evaluating

  , and making decisions (approving/denying) on incoming custom design requests.
• Hands on experience in using

  Creo

  and

  Windchill

  for

  3D modeling

  of complex parts, assemblies, drawings, family table and product data management.
• Strong understanding of

  DFM/DFA

  principles, particularly for modifying existing products.
• Working experience in the

  Furniture domain / Architect / modular products

  is preferred.
• Experience participating in or leading

  design reviews, root cause

  analysis.
• Ability to work effectively under tight timelines while maintaining a high level of

  quality

  .
• Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Must be experienced in

  Customer Request handling

  .
• Expertise in Tailored product Engineering is an added advantage.
