Network Security Fortinet Specialist (L2/L3 Implementation)

About the Role

As a Network Security Fortinet Specialist, you will play a key role in strengthening Scania's global network security capabilities, particularly within the Fortinet ecosystem. You will contribute to our ongoing cloud transformation journey, ensuring that robust, scalable, and secure network solutions are designed, implemented, and maintained.

You will work in a collaborative and expert-driven environment, partnering with internal stakeholders and external vendors to deploy and optimize network security infrastructure.

Core Responsibilities

• L2/L3 Network Implementation: Design, implement, and maintain L2/L3 solutions within the Fortinet ecosystem across global enterprise environments.

• Fortinet NGFW Deployment: Configure and manage Next Generation Firewalls (NGFW), ensuring high availability, security policy alignment, and performance optimization.

• Fortinet Ecosystem Integration: Support the integration and rollout of Fortinet security products such as FortiSwitch, FortiAP, FortiClient, and others.

• Operational Support: Provide L2/L3 support, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis for Fortinet and network security incidents.

• Documentation & Best Practices: Maintain accurate documentation for configurations, changes, and architecture, and enforce network security best practices.

• Enterprise Network Experience: Contribute to the evolution of a large-scale, complex enterprise network environment in collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Mandatory Skills & Experience

• 4–6 years of hands-on experience in network and network security, with a focus on L2/L3 implementation.

• Strong expertise in network fundamentals (routing, switching, VLANs, IPSEC, etc.)

• Proven experience with Fortinet NGFW (FortiGate) configuration and operations.

• Demonstrated experience in L3 implementation and rollout projects in enterprise environments.

• Solid understanding of enterprise network architecture and security frameworks.

• NSE4 (Fortinet Certified Professional – FortiGate Administrator) certification.

Preferred Skills

• SD-WAN implementation and support using Fortinet.

• Familiarity with Fortinet Fabric integration and security automation.

• Experience with Fortinet switches, FortiAPs, FortiClient, and related tools.

• Basic to intermediate experience with Cisco LAN/WiFi solutions.

• Exposure to DevOps/SecOps practices and toolsets (e.g., CI/CD, automation).

• Knowledge of agile methodologies and working in cross-functional teams.
