Job Summary

MYP English Teacher

Key Responsibilities

• Teaching & Curriculum Delivery:

• Plan and deliver engaging and inquiry-based English lessons aligned with the MYP English Language and Literature curriculum.
• Foster critical thinking, communication, and creativity through a student-centered approach to teaching.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students, including those with learning difficulties and language challenges.
• Assess student progress using formative and summative assessments, and provide constructive feedback.
• Collaborate with colleagues to ensure alignment with the school’s academic standards and IB expectations.
• Integrate technology and multimedia resources effectively to enhance the learning experience.

• Student Development & Support:

• Cultivate a positive, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and engagement.
• Provide individual support to students in their academic and personal development.
• Support students’ development of research, writing, and analytical skills to prepare them for the MYP and beyond.
• Encourage the development of inquiry-based learning and promote independent thinking in students.

• Assessment & Reporting:

• Maintain detailed records of student progress and achievement in accordance with school and IB guidelines.
• Provide timely and accurate reports to parents and the school leadership team on student progress.
• Participate in regular parent-teacher conferences and provide feedback to parents on students’ academic and personal growth.

• Collaboration & Professional Development:

• Work collaboratively with the English department and other subject teachers to enhance interdisciplinary teaching and learning.
• Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and stay current with best practices in IB education.
• Attend departmental and whole-school meetings, contributing to curriculum development and school initiatives.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Educational Qualification:

• Master's degree in English

  (or related field) from a recognized institution.

• IB MYP or IB teaching certification

  is preferred.
