We have been mandated by a large global conglomerate for the below mentioned position. About Company: A reputed name in Mining, Mineral Exports, Sponge Iron and Steel making. Position Name: Mgr / DM / AM / JM - Safety Location : Jamshedpur Qualification: Any Graduate with Post Diploma in Industrial Safety from RLI/CLI (recognized under Factories Act) Experience: 3-12 Years Job Purpose: To ensure compliance with statutory safety regulations, drive implementation of safety management systems, and foster a safe working culture across steel plant operations by proactive monitoring, training, audits, and risk management. Key Responsibilities: 1. Compliance & Regulatory: Ensure adherence to all legal and statutory safety requirements under the Factories Act, Explosives Act, Boiler Act, etc. Liaise with government authorities such as Factory Inspector, Pollution Control Board, and Local Authorities for inspections, approvals, and reporting. Maintain updated records for all mandatory safety documentation and permits. 2. Safety Management System: Implement and maintain safety protocols as per OHSAS / ISO 45001 standards. Conduct Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment (HIRA), and ensure control measures are in place. Develop and execute plant-wide safety campaigns, emergency preparedness, and safety drills. 3. Monitoring & Inspections: Conduct regular site inspections, safety audits, and behavior-based safety (BBS) observations. Monitor high-risk activities such as confined space entry, hot work, working at heights, material handling, and crane operations. Investigate all incidents/near misses and ensure root cause analysis and corrective actions. 4. Training & Awareness: Conduct induction safety training and periodic refresher training for employees, contract workers, and vendors. Develop and disseminate safety manuals, posters, videos, and SOPs for safety practices. Drive awareness campaigns for Zero Harm culture. 5. Reporting & Analysis: Maintain records of incidents, inspections, risk assessments, and safety metrics (LTI, TRIR, etc.). Prepare monthly safety performance reports for management. Support HAZOP and HIRA studies for new projects or expansions. Skills & Competencies: Strong knowledge of steel plant operations and related hazards Good understanding of legal safety frameworks and best practices Excellent communication and training skills Analytical approach to risk and incident management Leadership in driving cultural and behavioral safety
