Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site internship located in Bhubaneswar. The Mechanical Product Development Intern will play a critical role in the design, fabrication, and assembly of hardware products. Unlike a purely computational role, this position requires a candidate who is equally proficient in CAD design and physical manufacturing. You will work directly with the engineering team to validate designs through rapid prototyping and workshop fabrication.

Key Responsibilities
  • Mechanical Design:

Utilize 3D CAD software to create detailed models and technical drawings for mechanical components and assemblies.
  • Fabrication & Machining:

Operate workshop machinery, including lathes and CNC machines, to manufacture precision parts according to design specifications.
  • Prototyping & Assembly:

Perform hands-on assembly of hardware projects. Utilize power tools, such as angle grinders, drills, and sanders, for part finishing and modification.
  • Design for Manufacturing (DFM):

Apply practical workshop knowledge to improve design feasibility, ensuring parts can be manufactured efficiently.
  • Project Execution:

Assist in the end-to-end development cycle, from initial concept sketches to final functional hardware.

Qualifications
  • Educational Background:

Final-year student or recent graduate in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
  • Technical Proficiency:

Strong command of CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion 360, CATIA).
  • Workshop Experience:

Demonstrated experience operating machine tools, specifically lathes and CNC machines.
  • Hands-on Skills:

Proficiency in using standard hand tools and power tools for fabrication and finishing work.
  • Project Portfolio:

A strong track record of building physical hardware projects (e.g., academic capstone projects, robotics, or personal engineering builds).
  • Soft Skills:

Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
