Key Responsibilities

1. Equipment Maintenance & Reliability

• Rotary Equipment:

  Independently lead the overhauling and troubleshooting of centrifugal and gear pumps, agitators, centrifuges, fans, and compressors.

• Static Equipment:

  Oversee the inspection and maintenance of pressure vessels, reactors, heat exchangers, distillation columns, and specialized piping systems.

• Mechanical Integrity:

  Implement and monitor

  Mechanical Integrity (MI)

  programs for primary containment, including risk-based inspections and fitness-for-service evaluations.

2. Planning & Shutdown Management

• Preventive Maintenance (PM):

  Develop, schedule, and execute a comprehensive PM and predictive maintenance (CBM) program to achieve near-zero equipment breakdown.

• Shutdown Planning:

  Act as the lead for annual or periodic plant shutdowns, including defining the "List of Jobs," preparing cost estimates, and coordinating manpower and contractor teams.

• Root Cause Analysis (RCA):

  Perform detailed RCA for significant mechanical failures and implement design or operational changes to prevent recurrence.

3. Safety & Compliance in Hazardous Zones

• Hazardous Area Protocols:

  Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols for explosive/gas environments, including

  LOTO (Lock-out/Tag-out)

  , purging, and gas-free testing before vessel entry.

• Regulatory Compliance:

  Ensure all mechanical work complies with

  PESO

  (Petroleum & Explosives Safety Organization) guidelines and statutory environmental standards (GPCB/CPCB).

• Explosion-Proof Equipment:

  Maintain the integrity of flameproof and explosion-proof mechanical structures, ensuring no risk of sparking during maintenance.

4. Inventory, Spares & ISO Documentation

• Spare Parts Management:

  Manage the inventory of critical mechanical spares (seals, bearings, gaskets, valves) and liaise with vendors for technical procurement.

• ISO Standards:

  Maintain all records for

  ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001

  (or similar QMS), ensuring all equipment history cards and calibration certificates are up to date and audit-ready.

• CMMS Proficiency:

  Use Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (e.g., SAP PM Module) to track work orders, downtime, and resource allocation.

Qualifications & Skills

• Education:

  B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.

• Experience:

  3-5 years in a chemical, petrochemical, or pharmaceutical plant environment.

• Technical Skills:

  Proficiency in

  AutoCAD

  for reviewing technical drawings and experience with laser alignment and vibration analysis tools.

• Soft Skills:

  Strong leadership potential to supervise junior technicians and contractors, excellent analytical problem-solving, and a "Safety-First" mindset.
