WETS Deposition group at Lam India Global Hardware Technology (LIGHT) is hiring a Mechanical Engineer, Sr. for its product development engineering team.
Primary Responsibilities
- Design, develop and release product sub-systems through owning medium complex projects and working closely with engineering teams in India and the Product Group in Tualatin, USA. These projects can originate as part of New Product Development (NPD), Continuous Improvement Program (CIP), Non-Standard Requests (NSR) and Cost Reduction.
- Collaborate with cross functional teams and vendors to develop robust design solutions that ensure functionality, safety, manufacturability, serviceability, cost advantage, etc.
- Accountable for delivering on time and with quality as part of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and obtaining necessary approval from stakeholders by following Product Development and Release (PDR) process.
- Obtains approvals through design reviews and contribute to engineering performance improvement initiatives.
Eligibility Criteria
- Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience
Or
- Master’s in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
Mandatory Skills And Experience Required To Perform The Job
- Proficient in concept design and development of medium-complex sub-systems by following Product Development and Release process.
- Experience in conducting Design Reviews, performing FMEA, validating designs through Prototyping and Testing and releasing Engineering Documentation.
- Demonstrated Problem Solving and Decision-Making ability by applying structured processes or tools such as 8Ds, Fishbone, 5 Whys, Pugh matrix, Pareto chart, etc.
- Experience in driving projects in collaboration with CFT (Manufacturing, Supply chain, Electrical/controls engineering and Product safety) for project deliverables.
- Expertise in Design for Manufacturability, Assembly, Serviceability, Cost principles, and Engineering Change Management.
- Experience in design of Fluidics and Pneumatics systems and selection of OEM components like Fluid system fittings, Valves, Transducers, Pressure Regulators, Sensors, Gauges, etc.
- Exposure to Engineering change management, Cut-in strategies, Product Options Architecture.
- Experience in Plastic materials, Plastic manufacturing processes (Machining and Jointing / Traditional / Additive Mfg).
- Experience in Sheetmetal design and manufacturing processes.
Desirable Skills
- Excellent communication, both written and verbal, and technical presentation skills.
- Experience in Semiconductor Wafer Fab Equipment (WFE) domain.
- Experience in project management, or problem solving while managing time and multiple priorities.

Lam offers a variety of work location models based on the needs of each role. Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories – On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. ‘On-site Flex’ you’ll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. ‘Virtual Flex’ you’ll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
