The Production Design Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing cold forging processes for the manufacturing of fasteners (bolts, nuts, screws, rivets, etc.). The role requires strong technical knowledge of cold forging principles, tooling design, and production process optimization to ensure efficient, high-quality, and cost-effective manufacturing.
Minimum 02 -05 Years In Mechanical Component Designing.
Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Tool Engineering, or Production Engineering.
As Per Market Standard.
•Develop and design cold forging tooling (punches, dies, headers, etc.) for fastener production.
•Interpret customer specifications, technical drawings, and standards (e.g., DIN, ISO, ANSI) to develop production-ready designs.
•Use CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Creo) for 2D/3D modeling of parts and tools.
•Design process flow and route cards for new products.
•Develop forging sequences and determine required operations (heading, extrusion, trimming, threading, etc.).
•Calculate material deformation, grain flow, and forging loads using simulation tools or empirical methods.
•Optimize die life and material utilization to reduce scrap and costs.
•Conduct time-motion studies and production cycle time optimization.
•Collaborate with production teams to implement new product designs into manufacturing.
•Troubleshoot issues in the forging line and recommend corrective actions.
•Ensure proper alignment of machine parameters with design specs.
•Ensure product designs meet dimensional accuracy, mechanical properties, and visual standards.
•Coordinate with the QA/QC department for inspection criteria and control plans.
•Conform to ISO/TS/IATF 16949 quality systems and documentation.
•Coordinate with the tool room for the manufacturing and maintenance of cold forging dies.
•Analyze tool wear and failures; suggest improvements in materials, coatings, or geometry.
•Participate in lean manufacturing, Kaizen, and Six Sigma initiatives.
•Review customer feedback and implement design improvements.
a- Proficient in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, etc.).
b- Knowledge of metal forming simulations (e.g., DEFORM, QForm) is a plus.
c- Understanding of metallurgy and material flow in cold forging.
d- Familiarity with thread rolling, heat treatment, and surface coatings.
