Job Description

Job Title: Marine Surveyor

Location: Tanzania
Department: Marine Infrastructure / Surveying
Reporting To: Construction Manager / Planning Head
Employment Type: Full-Time | Site-Based

Qualification & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Surveying from a recognized university.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in surveying for infrastructure projects.
  • Prior experience in marine construction projects is highly desirable.

Role Overview:

The Marine Surveyor will be responsible for providing accurate surveying support for marine construction works including jetties, breakwaters, berths, and other coastal infrastructure. The role requires hands-on expertise with modern surveying tools such as Total Station, GPS, and AutoCAD, along with working knowledge of bathymetric surveys using single-beam and multibeam echo sounders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately execute line-outs, establish and shift benchmarks, and verify coordinates to support construction accuracy.
  • Conduct topographic and marine surveys using GPS and Total Station.
  • Carry out bathymetric surveys using single-beam/multibeam echo sounders and ensure proper calibration and data capture.
  • Prepare and process raw survey data into detailed drawings using AutoCAD and specialized hydrographic software.
  • Deliver survey reports and drawings to Planning and Engineering teams for integration into design and execution workflows.
  • Perform real-time verification of structures, levels, and alignments as per construction and design requirements.
  • Maintain detailed records of all survey activities, benchmarks, equipment calibration logs, and data archives.
  • Coordinate closely with site execution, planning, and quality teams for timely survey deliverables.
  • Ensure survey activities are conducted with safety and precision, especially in marine and tidal zones.

Key Skills & Competencies:

  • Proficient in the use of AutoCAD, Total Station, DGPS, and GPS equipment.
  • Hands-on knowledge of bathymetric surveys, including operation of echo sounders and sonar systems.
  • Ability to process survey data using hydrographic software and extract final outputs for design and construction use.
  • Strong understanding of coordinate systems, benchmarks, and tidal adjustments.
  • Excellent attention to detail, data accuracy, and field-to-office communication.
  • Adaptable to challenging marine site conditions and tight project schedules.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹200,000.00 - ₹300,000.00 per month
