Manager/Dy. Manager - WRM Mechanical (Bar Mill)

Role Objective:

To lead and ensure smooth mechanical maintenance operations of the Bar Mill section within the Wire Rod Mill (WRM), ensuring maximum equipment availability, reliability, safety, and cost efficiency through preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance practices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee day-to-day mechanical maintenance activities in the Bar Mill area.
  
• Plan and execute preventive and predictive maintenance schedules for critical equipment to minimize downtime.
  
• Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical breakdowns in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  
• Ensure spares planning, inventory control, and resource management for uninterrupted operations.
  
• Drive continual improvements in equipment reliability, performance, and maintenance practices.
  
• Coordinate with operations, electrical, instrumentation, and other support departments for smooth mill operations.
  
• Implement and monitor adherence to safety, health, and environment standards in maintenance activities.
  
• Prepare and monitor maintenance budgets, cost control measures, and energy conservation initiatives.
  
• Guide and develop the maintenance team through training, skill development, and performance monitoring.
  
• Support capital projects, shutdown maintenance, and equipment modernization/upgrade initiatives.
  

Key Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of Bar Mill / Wire Rod Mill mechanical systems (rolling stands, gearboxes, shears, cooling beds, pinch rolls, etc.).
  
• Expertise in preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance techniques.
  
• Hands-on experience in hydraulic and pneumatic systems, gear drives, bearings, lubrication systems.
  
• Knowledge of TPM, RCA, 5S, Kaizen, and other reliability improvement practices.
  
• Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings, OEM manuals, and maintenance standards.
  
• Team leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  
• Strong planning, analytical, and cost-control skills.

Qualifications & Experience

• Qualification

  : B.E./B.Tech (Mechanical Engineering) or equivalent.

• Experience

  : 8–12 years for Dy. Manager / 12–15 years for a Manager in Mechanical Maintenance of Bar Mill / WRM in an Integrated Steel Plant.
