Manager/Dy. Manager - WRM Mechanical (High Speed Area)

Role Objective:

Responsible for ensuring smooth, safe, and efficient mechanical maintenance of high-speed equipment in the Wire Rod Mill (WRM), minimizing downtime, improving reliability, and supporting continuous production targets.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, schedule, and execute preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance for WRM High-Speed area equipment (e.g., finishing blocks, laying heads, pinch rolls, conveyors, etc.).
  
• Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis of mechanical failures to prevent recurrence.
  
• Ensure the availability and reliability of mechanical systems to meet production targets and quality standards.
  
• Monitor equipment performance, vibration analysis, and condition monitoring for early detection of abnormalities.
  
• Drive reliability improvement initiatives and implement best practices in maintenance.
  
• Coordinate with operations, electrical & instrumentation teams for smooth plant functioning.
  
• Maintain adequate inventory of spares, consumables, and tools specific to WRM high-speed equipment.
  
• Prepare and monitor maintenance budgets, ensuring cost control and resource optimization.
  
• Ensure strict compliance with safety standards and promote safe working practices.
  
• Train and mentor team members to build technical competency in WRM mechanical systems.
  
• Support continuous improvement initiatives (TPM, Kaizen, 5S, Lean maintenance practices).
  

Key Skills & Competencies:

• Strong knowledge of WRM high-speed machinery (finishing block, laying head, pinch roll, laying conveyor, water boxes, coilers, etc.).
  
• Expertise in predictive & preventive maintenance techniques.
  
• Problem-solving and analytical skills for mechanical fault diagnosis.
  
• Ability to plan, execute, and monitor maintenance schedules effectively.
  
• Leadership skills to manage a maintenance team in a high-pressure production environment.
  
• Exposure to SAP/ERP for maintenance management will be an added advantage.
  

Qualifications & Experience:

• Qualification:

  B.E. / B.Tech – Mechanical Engineering

• Experience:

  8–15 years of experience in mechanical maintenance of WRM (preferably in high-speed rolling mills).
• Hands-on experience in modern WRM technologies and OEM equipment (e.g., Danieli, SMS, Morgan).
