Job Description

Department:

Role Objective:

Responsible for ensuring the effective maintenance, troubleshooting, and reliability of hydraulic and lubrication systems in the Wire Rod Mill (WRM) to achieve maximum equipment availability, minimum downtime, and smooth production operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead maintenance activities for

    hydraulic & lubrication systems

    of WRM equipment (rolling stands, shears, coilers, loopers, pinch rolls, etc.).
  • Plan and execute

    preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance schedules

    to minimize breakdowns.
  • Monitor and control

    hydraulic pressure, oil quality, leakage points, and lubrication performance

    to ensure optimal equipment performance.
  • Troubleshoot

    hydraulic circuits, pumps, valves, cylinders, accumulators, and lubrication systems

    during failures.
  • Maintain and improve

    spares inventory management

    for hydraulic & lubrication equipment.
  • Coordinate with operations and other maintenance teams for smooth mill operation.
  • Drive

    root cause analysis (RCA)

    of repeated failures and implement permanent solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with

    safety standards and statutory guidelines

    in maintenance practices.
  • Prepare and monitor

    maintenance budgets

    for hydraulic and lubrication systems.
  • Support

    modifications, upgradation, and new projects

    related to WRM hydraulics and lubrication.
  • Train and mentor team members/technicians for effective maintenance practices.

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of

    hydraulic & lubrication system design, operation, and maintenance

    .
  • Proficiency in

    reading hydraulic circuit diagrams and troubleshooting

    .
  • Knowledge of

    rolling mill mechanical equipment

    and their maintenance requirements.
  • Hands-on experience in

    preventive & predictive maintenance tools (Vibration, Oil analysis, Thermography, etc.)

    .
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills for

    RCA and reliability improvement

    .
  • Team management, leadership, and coordination abilities.
  • Good communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Knowledge of

    safety standards (OSHA/IS standards) in hydraulic maintenance

    .

Educational Qualification

  • B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with relevant experience can also be considered.
