Manager / Sr. Manager - Forge Shop & Shear Shop

Role & responsibilities

Forge Shop Responsibilities:

a) Supervise and manage daily operations of forging equipment (mechanical & hydraulic presses, hammers).

b) Ensure correct die & tool setting, alignment, and timely changeovers.

c) Optimize forging parameters to achieve productivity, quality, and tool life targets.

d) Drive process improvements to reduce forging defects, improve yield, and maximize equipment uptime.

e) Monitor & control KPIs including production yield, cycle time, rejection %, and OEE.

Shear Shop Responsibilities:

a) Oversee raw material cutting/shearing operations as per production requirements/job cards.

b) Ensure cut length accuracy, material optimization, and traceability of batches.

c) Plan and execute shearing schedules aligned with forging production plans.

d) Ensure proper blade/tool life management and schedule preventive maintenance of machines.

Leadership & Coordination :

a) Lead, mentor, and develop a team of supervisors, operators, and support staff.

b) Conduct daily production review meetings and implement corrective actions for deviations.

c) Collaborate with PPC, Maintenance, Quality, and Tool Room teams for smooth operations.

d) Ensure adherence to safety standards, 5S, and ISO / ISMS system compliance on the shop floor.

Documentation & Reporting :

a) Review production reports, downtime analysis, and tool/die changeover logs.

b) Maintain all required documentation for internal, customer, and external audits (ISO/ IMS / ASD standards).

c) Utilize production data & KPIs for informed decision-making and continuous improvement.

Compliance & Governance:

a) Ensure compliance with occupational health, safety, and environmental requirements.

b) Strong understanding of Information Security Governance: ability to identify, assess, and mitigate risks.

c) Working knowledge of ISMS 27001:2022, AS 9100D, FOD (Foreign Object Debris/Damage) control, Counterfeit parts prevention, and Product Safety requirements, ISO standards (9001, 14001,45001)

Preferred candidate profile

BE Mechanical / Diploma Mechanical 'OR' Advance Diploma in Forge Technology From NIAMT Ranchi.

20+ years of progressive experience in forging industry, with at least 7-8 years in a senior leadership / production head role.

Extensive hands-on exposure to closed-die forging, open-die forging, and hot forging processes. Strong expertise in mechanical & hydraulic presses, drop hammers, induction heating, trimming, and shearing operations.
