About Role:

The Manager of Payment Operations will be responsible for building and overseeing the local team who manages robust operational money movement workflows and driving continuous improvements, and managing escalations related to Payments by engaging internal and external teams to mitigate customer impact and fix problems across a wide range of technology platforms. The ideal candidate will bring a demonstrated track record of influencing senior leadership, collaborating across stakeholder groups and leading key change efforts as well as critical skills in the transformation of payment operations and back\-office platforms.


Job Responsibilities


  • Responsible for the Payment Operations team who manages day\-to\-day operations including Money movement, Payment initiation, settlement, reconciliation, exception handling, and charge\-back\/dispute management. & set up mechanisms\/processes to ensure payment success ensuring efficiency, certainty and compliance.

  • Become SME (subject matter expert) for existing payments technologies as well as new technologies as they emerge.

  • Manage multiple payment rails (ACH\/NEFT\/RTGS\/IMPS, cards, UPI, wires, wallets) and payment partners\/banks.

  • Ensure SLAs, cut\-offs, and settlement timelines are met; proactively monitor queues, dashboards, and alerts.

  • Lead the identification of issues and incidents, conduct business impact analysis, root\-cause analysis for payment failures and discrepancies and engage with the wider team for resolution and create preventive controls.

  • Identify opportunities for improvement within our payment services, effectively communicating with product management and engineering teams. Lead the testing of payment integrations from ideation to production.

  • Possess a deep understanding and experience in payments data, collaborate closely with Product and Engineering teams to provide insights and performance\-related details to drive decision making.

  • Focus on optimising processing costs to deliver a positive impact on payment processing expenses.

  • Drive operational excellence through SOPs, controls, and continuous improvement (Lean\/automation).

  • Ensure regulatory and scheme compliance (FBI\/NACHA\/scheme rules), audits, and risk controls.

  • Prepare and present or review operational metrics, insights, and executive updates.

  • Own vendor\/bank performance reviews, contracts support, and issue escalations.

  • Manage disputes, chargebacks, fraud escalations, and partner communications.

  • Lead, coach and develop a team of payments professionals and Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and customer focus.

  • Set goals, manage capacity, conduct performance reviews, and build succession plans.

Requirements

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • 10+ years relevant experience and 5+ years in a similar role within regulated Financial Services. Direct experience in money movement payment operations required.

  • A Bachelor\degree in any discipline.

  • The Candidate should have experience in leadership roles within the fin\-tech industry.

  • Expert knowledge of banking, payment and card schemes required.

  • Track record of establishing teams and processes from the ground up.

  • Experience developing and managing capacity plans and resource management

  • Participate and Review all documentation related to Payment Operations department.

  • Possesses both strategic and operational work experience

  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • Experience developing and leading high\-performance teams.

  • Deep operational knowledge of payment life cycles and reconciliations.

  • Process design, documentation, and automation mindset.

  • Excellent stakeholder communication and incident management.

  • High ownership, attention to detail, and ability to operate under pressure.

Preferred Skills

  • Previous processing or acquiring experience is a plus.

  • Previous lending, accounting or reconciliation experience is a plus.

  • Datadriven decision making; SQL\/Excel\/BI tools a plus.

  • A postgraduate degree or MBA is a plus.
