Role Overview
We are looking for a proven electrical engineering leader to take full ownership of electrical engineering, design, implementation, and commissioning of solar EPC projects including EB line / grid tie scope in Gujarat. The Manager - Electrical will ensure that all electrical works (from design to EB connectivity, integration, commissioning, quality and safety) are executed smoothly, on time, within budget, and compliant with relevant codes and standards. The role involves coordination with multiple teams, vendors and contractors, and demands both technical expertise and project management skills.
Key Roles Responsibilities
Review, validate and approve electrical designs, layouts, Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), load flow and fault calculations; ensure compliance with grid connection requirements and EB (Electricity Board) standards.
Prepare/validate Bill of Quantities (BOQs), technical specifications, and material take offs for electrical works (transformers, HT/LT distribution, switchgear, cabling, inverters, protection, SCADA/monitoring, earthing/grounding).
Coordinate with design, procurement and EPC contractors to ensure the design intent is understood and implementable.
2. Project Execution Installation Management
Oversee and supervise all electrical installation activities on site: HT/LT panels, transformers, inverters, PV combiner boxes, cabling, earthing, grid tie works, EB line connection and related civil/electrical interface works.
Ensure electrical works are carried out per approved drawings, quality standards, safety norms, and project schedule with strict adherence to specifications.
Monitor progress of electrical scope, track installation status, identify issues or deviations early, and coordinate timely corrective actions.
3. Commissioning, Testing Grid Connection
Plan, supervise and execute commissioning activities: pre commissioning tests, insulation continuity tests, protection checks, load tests, earthing grounding tests, grid synchronization, safety checks, performance validation.
Ensure all statutory compliance and approvals required for EB connection / grid integration are obtained (from DISCOM / TRANSCO / regulatory bodies), and documentation (as built drawings, test reports, final certificates) is maintained.
4. Quality Assurance, Compliance Safety
Define and enforce quality control procedures and standards for electrical works for materials, workmanship, and installation practices.
Ensure compliance with electrical codes, standards, and regulatory requirements applicable to solar/EPC/grid tie projects.
Enforce safety protocols for electrical works, ensure proper PPE usage, safe work practices (especially for HT/LT, grid connection, commissioning) and coordinate with HSE/Safety teams for site safety and audits.
5. Stakeholder Vendor Management
Manage vendor/sub contractor selection for electrical equipment and works; evaluate vendor proposals for compliance, quality and suitability; coordinate procurement, delivery, inspection and acceptance of electrical materials/equipment.
Coordinate with civil, mechanical, procurement, project management and other teams to ensure integrated project execution.
Interface with regulatory bodies, DISCOM / TRANSCO, local electrical inspectors / statutory authorities for approvals, inspections and EB line / grid tie clearances.
6. Project Planning, Budget Resource Management
Contribute to project planning: define electrical scope timeline, resource requirements (manpower, materials, equipment), and align with overall project schedule.
Manage electrical scope budget monitor costs, track variances, optimize procurement and usage of materials to keep project costs within approved limits.
Maintain documentation: project schedules, progress records, site reports, test/commissioning logs, as built drawings, vendor supplier records, compliance certificates.
7. Team Leadership Coordination
Lead and supervise electrical team on site: engineers, site engineers, supervisors, technicians and subcontractors; assign tasks, monitor performance, conduct routine reviews, and ensure accountability.
Provide technical guidance, troubleshoot issues, support decision-making for electrical scope, and ensure smooth coordination across all disciplines.
8. Project Handover Close out
Ensure all electrical works are duly completed, commissioned and certified; verify installation quality and compliance.
Prepare and submit final electrical documentation (as built drawings, commissioning reports, grid connection certificates, statutory approvals) for project handover.
Ensure smooth transition of project from construction to operations / OM (if applicable), with proper handover of responsibility.
