Job Description

Role Overview:

The Manager/Assistant Manager Procurement will be responsible for sourcing and procuring sheet metal parts, consumables, and electrical components for EV Wheel Loader projects. The role demands strong technical understanding of parts, cost estimation capability, supplier management, and negotiation skills. The candidate must be self-driven and capable of handling end-to-end procurement activities independently.

Key Responsibilities

1. Procurement & Sourcing

  • Procure materials as per specifications, drawings, and technical requirements for EV Wheel Loader components.
  • Identify and develop new suppliers for sheet metal, consumables, and electrical parts.
  • Obtain and evaluate quotations, conduct cost comparisons, and finalize vendors.
  • Ensure materials are delivered on time to meet production and project schedules.

2. Costing & Negotiation

  • Prepare cost estimates based on technical drawings, BOMs, and process requirements.
  • Conduct cost analysis, breakdown studies, and benchmarking.
  • Lead commercial negotiations with suppliers to achieve optimum pricing and long-term cost benefits.
  • Drive cost reduction initiatives and value engineering activities.

3. Supplier Relationship & Management

  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure quality, cost, and delivery targets are met.
  • Monitor supplier performance through QCD (Quality, Cost, Delivery) metrics.
  • Resolve supplier issues related to quality, delivery, or technical clarifications.

4. Technical & Cross-functional Coordination

  • Collaborate with design, production, and quality teams for clarifications on drawings, specifications, and engineering changes.
  • Review technical documents, specifications, and ensure procurement compliance with engineering standards.
  • Support new product development (NPD) procurement activities.

5. Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintain procurement records, PO documentation, vendor agreements, and cost sheets.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, audit norms, and regulatory requirements.
  • Track inventory levels for critical and high-value items and coordinate with stores.

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of sheet metal components, consumables, and electrical parts used in heavy machinery/EV systems.
  • Minimum 2 years OEM Experience preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent cost estimation, negotiation, and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication, decision-making, and supplier management capability.
  • Self-driven, proactive, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and ERP systems.
