Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled Senior Mainframe Application Developer with hands-on experience in modernizing legacy applications. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in mainframe development (COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS) and a strong understanding of modernization techniques such as replatforming, refactoring, and API enablement. This role involves enhancing and transforming core business applications to align with modern architecture and cloud strategies.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze, design, develop, and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, DB2, and CICS.
• Participate in modernization initiatives including code refactoring, replatforming, and integration with modern systems.
• Collaborate with architects and business analysts to understand modernization goals and translate them into technical solutions.
• Develop and expose APIs to enable integration with cloud and distributed systems.
• Support data migration and transformation efforts as part of modernization.
• Conduct unit testing, debugging, and performance tuning of legacy and modernized components.
• Document technical designs, procedures, and modernization patterns.
• Mentor junior developers and contribute to best practices in legacy-to-modern transitions.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Strong experience in COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, VSAM.
• Hands-on experience in mainframe modernization projects (refactoring, rehosting, reengineering).
• Familiarity with API development and integration (REST/SOAP).
• Understanding of DevOps practices and tools (e.g., Git, Jenkins, automated testing).
• Experience with data migration and transformation tools.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and hybrid architectures.
• Experience with modernization tools (e.g., Micro Focus, IBM z/OS Connect, Raincode).
• Knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies.
• Experience in insurance, banking, or healthcare domains.
