Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role for a Machine Shift Incharge, located in Wankaner, Morbi. The Machine Shift Incharge will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of tissue paper manufacturing machines. Tasks include monitoring machine performance, troubleshooting issues, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards, training and supervising machine operators, and collaborating with maintenance teams to ensure optimal machine efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Production Management

• Plan and execute shift operations to achieve daily production targets for tonnage, quality, and efficiency.
• Monitor and control process parameters (basis weight, moisture, formation, caliper, etc.) to maintain product specifications.
• Coordinate grade changes, machine startups, and shutdowns smoothly to minimize downtime.
• Ensure optimal utilization of raw materials, chemicals, and energy.

2. People Management

• Lead and guide shift operators, assistants, and helpers to achieve operational excellence.
• Identify skill gaps and recommend training needs for team members.

3. Quality Control

• Monitor quality parameters in coordination with the Quality Control Department.
• Investigate process deviations or quality issues and take corrective/preventive actions.

4. Maintenance Coordination

• Work closely with maintenance teams to attend to breakdowns and preventive maintenance.
• Report any abnormalities, equipment malfunctions, or process upsets promptly.
• Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) and continuous improvement activities.

5. Reporting & Documentation

• Maintain accurate shift logs, production data, and downtime reports.
• Ensure proper handover to the next shift, including ongoing issues or maintenance activities.

  

6. Qualifications & Experience:

• 5–10 years of experience in paper machine operations, with at least 5 years in a supervisory role.
• Strong understanding of paper machine sections (headbox ,wire, felt, press, calendar)
• Diploma / B.Tech in Paper Technology, Mechanical, Chemical, or related field is a plus.
