Line Supervisor

A Production Line supervisor is responsible for the successful and effective operation of a particular Product line e.g. Condensing Unit Line, Evaporator Line, Condenser Coil, or any other. The production Line supervisor ensures the right tools, and techniques are employed making the best use of the available resources to meet the Production Target wrt a given Production Plan.

Roles and Responsibilities:

·      Understand the Daily Production Plan, prepare Material Requisition for each Job/batch of production, and ensure required Material as per BOM is available on the Production / Assembly Line well in advance, preferably before the Production Shift starts.

·      Attend the Daily Production Meeting to discuss issues related to Product Plan and achieving the target.

·      Ensure the material received from the stores as per the Material Requisition is stored in the pre-identified bins adjacent to the Assembly Line. 

·      Communicate the daily and weekly Production plans to the operators and motivate them to achieve the target and exceed day after day.

·      Decide the schedule for the Assembly of Products. E.g. if there are 3 products to be assembled in a day, depending on the commonality of parts /process, the Line supervisor may decide which product to be taken first and then the next. 

·      Train, Guide, and Coach Operators to achieve the desired Product Quality and Productivity.

·      Ensure that Operators are multitasked (ability to work at different workstations) so that absenteeism of one or more operators does not impact the Quality and Productivity does not get impacted.

·      Ensure the safety of operators. Bring to the attention of the Maintenance Department for timely preventive maintenance so that Production Target does get affected by machine/line breakdown.  

·      Closely Work with Manufacturing / Quality to get the desired tools/Jigs/ Fixtures wherever required to ensure Quality and Productivity. Collaborate with Manufacturing for Assembly Line Balancing. Work with QC /QA to ensure updated Visual Work Instructions are available at each workstation.

·      If the input material is defective / Non-Conforming Material (Not as per drawing/specs), bring the same to the attention of QC and get fresh material for the assembly line or collaborate with QC to salvage without affecting the product quality.

·      Plan for the optimum level of Offline Sub-assemblies to ensure smooth flow of the Assembly line (without interruption). 

·      Resolve any interpersonal issues arising on the line, amicably to avoid disruption to the assembly of products.

·      Collaborate with PPC and Factory Manager to estimate and plan the no of operators required to ramp up & ramp down the production.
