Librarian

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced individual to join the Aryan Institute of Engineering & Technology as a Librarian. The Librarian will be responsible for managing and organizing the institute's library resources, providing support to students and faculty, and promoting a conducive learning environment. The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 3 years of experience working as a Librarian in a reputed educational institute.

Responsibilities:

• Manage the overall functioning of the institute's library, including acquisitions, cataloging, circulation, and maintenance of library materials.
• Organize and classify books, journals, periodicals, and other educational resources for easy access and retrieval.
• Assist students and faculty in locating and utilizing library resources effectively.
• Provide research support to students and faculty by assisting with information retrieval and literature searches.
• Develop and implement library policies, procedures, and rules to ensure the smooth operation of the library.
• Collaborate with faculty to curate course-related reading lists and provide necessary materials for academic programs.
• Stay updated on the latest advancements in library technology and implement relevant tools to enhance library services and accessibility.
• Manage library subscriptions and negotiate with vendors for the procurement of new resources and subscriptions.
• Organize and conduct library workshops and training sessions to promote information literacy among students.
• Create and maintain an electronic database of library materials and transactions.
• Oversee the maintenance and preservation of library materials to ensure their longevity and usability.
• Generate reports on library usage, book circulation, and inventory status for management and stakeholders.
• Promote library services and resources through various communication channels and engage with the institute community to understand their needs.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Library Science or a related field. Master's degree in Library Science is preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Librarian in a reputed educational institute.
• Strong knowledge of library management systems, koha, cataloging, and information retrieval techniques.
• Familiarity with electronic databases, online journals, and e-resources.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills to manage library resources efficiently.
• Customer service-oriented approach with good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in using technology for library services, such as library software and digital cataloging tools.
• Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students to meet their information needs.
• A keen eye for detail to ensure the accuracy of cataloging and record-keeping.
• Knowledge of copyright and intellectual property issues related to library resources.
• Strong commitment to promoting a culture of reading and information literacy among students.
