Legal Engineer

As a Legal Engineer at Pune, your main role is to execute legal workflows in AI development with a strong emphasis on trust, safety, compliance, and risk validation. You will be working closely with Senior and Principal Legal Engineers to support the ethical development of AI, document and mitigate legal risks, ensure internal compliance, conduct audits, and execute workflows efficiently. Additionally, you will be encouraged to participate in professional development and collaborate across different functions within the company. Key Responsibilities: - Organise baselines, define research methodologies, and support the structured execution of legal AI workflows. - Assist in audits, prepare privacy statements, model factsheets, and maintain audit logs to ensure compliance and reporting support. - Conduct ethical, legal, and operational risk assessments, maintain the AI risk registry, and validate outputs for compliance. - Monitor legal and risk developments, take steps to maintain compliance, and integrate findings into trust frameworks for trust and safety integration. - Contribute to prompt development and iterative improvements in legal AI services to provide prompt engineering support. - Research and summarise AI regulations relevant to product deployment regions for jurisdictional research. - Partner with the AI engineering team to deliver legally valid and trustworthy AI solutions through cross-functional collaboration. - Learn from senior team members and work towards higher-impact roles for learning and development. Required Skills and Qualifications: - Legal degree or equivalent legal/LegalOps experience. - Background in legal matter or spend management. - Strong analytical, documentation, and organisational skills. - Excellent communication and teamwork abilities. - Demonstrated ability to learn and adapt in LegalTech environments. Preferred Qualifications: - Understanding of AI compliance and legal risk principles. - Experience in prompt engineering or legal validation of AI. - Exposure to legal audits, AI fairness, privacy, or regulatory frameworks. - Prior client presentations or compliance documentation experience.
