Legal Director

As a Legal leader (Asst director/sr manager) with 8-12 years of experience in the Global IT organization based out of Chennai, your role will involve overseeing various legal functions within the organization. Your key responsibilities will include: - Contract Management: - Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts such as client agreements, vendor contracts, NDAs, SLAs, and licensing agreements. - Ensure contracts are compliant with applicable laws and internal policies. - Compliance & Risk Management: - Monitor and ensure compliance with local and international laws relevant to IT services. - Develop and implement internal legal policies and procedures. - Conduct periodic legal audits and risk assessments. - Dispute Resolution & Litigation: - Manage pre-litigation and litigation matters, including coordination with external counsel. - Represent the company in legal proceedings when required. - Regulatory Monitoring: - Stay updated on changes in laws and regulations affecting the IT industry. - Communicate relevant legal updates to stakeholders and ensure timely compliance. - Team Management: - Manage a team of legal professionals. - Mentor junior team members and support their professional growth through training, feedback, and career development plans. - Conduct regular performance reviews and identify skill gaps for upskilling. Qualifications required for this role include: - Bachelors degree in Law (LLB); Masters degree (LLM) or specialization in corporate law is optional. - Minimum 8-12 years of experience in corporate legal roles, preferably in IT or technology services. - Strong understanding of contract law, IT regulations, data protection laws, and employment law. - Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills. - Ability to manage multiple legal projects and stakeholders simultaneously. - High ethical standards and professional integrity.
